An acquired taste...

I *was* never a beer person. I thought it was an annoyingly sour and bitter taste and I couldn't for the life of me understand why anyone would like it.
I always sipped from my dad's glass or R's (in more recent times) and would make a face much like :-S and put the glass back down!

Then I graduated to a Yueng Ling. Contrary to what the name suggests it's a local (US made) Pennsylvania brewery product. It's mild (not as bitter as some of the others) and still doesn't taste like piss (assuming piss taste like flat, tasteless beer :p).
Rarely would I go out and request a beer. I normally stuck to fruity cocktails or a wine or a shot of vermouth. And now I find myself wanting to try other beers. Last night, I tried a Dos Equis Lager...R was going to get it - the lady opened the bottle and I said I wanted to try. The first sip wasn't so bad...and I said I want it :)

So over our meal it came to me and I said its unbelievable that I now have two beers I wouldn't mind drinking. And R commented, you didn't like Starbucks, now you crave for it, you didn't like beer, now you drink it ... and I agreed although its not as if I crave Starbucks everyday. But after 5 days a week of drinking disgusting drip cofffee at the office, an espresso beverage does become necessity over the weekend.

The development of my taste buds so to speak has been an evolution. I have acquired a taste for many things I would refuse to touch let alone taste! Beer, american coffee (the less milky kinds), sushi, sunny-side-ups are just a few on the list :)

Does that happen to you guys too?
