I had a meeting at 8.00am that I had to drive this morning. **GASPS!!** I'm not used to being at my desk before 8.45 and having an 8.00 meeting means I need about 20 minutes prior to get set up.
Now why did I have a meeting at such an ungodly hour you ask? Well because I am part of what they call a "global workforce". So I have business partners in India, with whom one can meet only in the wee hours of the morning because they soon turn into the wee hours of the night for our folks back home.
Anyway...so I had to be up an hour earlier and I still hit snooze a few times (I always keep a buffer for such times) but I shut off the alarm and then relied on R to count 5 mins in his sleep so I could get out of bed at 6.35 am. Oh well...it was 6.34 when I decided 6 mins more would do no harm. And then it came "you're already cutting it too close, you should wake up" - that was R, so I sprung out of bed like an old rusty spring (sheesh! And I'm only 27!!) and head to the bath.
Point in question here is that I'm not complaining, in fact I'm thinking I need to wake up earlier than I currently do. To get more out of the day, to get more out of the life we lead. Currently, our process is tuned to getting out of bed, R assembles our lunch bags (so brings components together), assembles our respective laptop bags, irons occasionally (so sweet na?), eats his cereal (are you wondering what role I play in all of this?) while I get ready. Of course, it takes time to get dressed in business casuals. If I had to wear jeans everyday I wouldn't take this long :-p (Seriously, stop laughing...it takes me 45-50mins give or take depending on how well the hair is drying)
So anyway...once we're ready we drive out the door. I eat cereal at my desk and we both drink coffee at work. So the only interaction we have in the morning is to share a goodbye kiss and occasionally grunt or bark at each other!
I'm trying to do the math and I want to figure what the magic time of day is, that we can wake up, possibly drink a cup of coffee and then scramble to get to work. For now, the only time that comes to my mind is Saturday and Sunday HA!!!
But seriously, what time do I wake up to get to work at 8.30 and not feel like a shot out of a cannon? Today I woke up at 6.40 and got to work at 7.45...this is without a coffee of course...and if we have to make coffee, drink it, followed by ablutions (TMI?) add 45 mins more? So if I did wake up at 6.40 am everyday...would I still make it to work on time around 8.30?!
Maybe I should give it a try...R are you up for a challenge?

dont even try.. I could never wake up early unless I had a strong reason :)
I sooooo can relate to this as far as the getting up early is concerned. I've been trying to get up early and get to work at or around 8:30, but that hasn't happened in the past few months...But I'm still trying :-p
Nice blog, btw.
