..."zaahid sharaab peene de
masjid mein baith kar
ya woh jagah batade jahanpar
khuda na ho
mujhko yaaron maaf karna, main nashe mein hun
ab to mumkin hai behekna, main nashe mein hun
zaahid - preist
masjid - mosque
Blasphemous although it sounds...it is true. All this drunk is saying is, let me drink in peace, sitting here at the mosque, or tell me of a place where there is no God!
These are the opening lines of a song sung by Mukesh (he was primarily the playback voice of Raj Kapoor), from the film Main Nashe Mein Hoon. Music by another one of Raj Kapoor's favorite music composer duos - Shankar - Jaikishen.

Good Read: "Momma's come in all flavors"
this post at Jugalbandi cheered me up today. It actually did get a few giggles out from me as well. Somewhere in the middle there's this one dialogue between a mother and daughter about a forgotten CD. Loved it!!
I was taking a break and came across this post and I couldn't help but share it.

It's one of those days again...
when I want to crawl under the desk and never be seen again.
What do you do when something you say to explain something to someone is taken out of context and an opinion is formed of you?
Right...that's what I want to do. Undo the day, crawl under the desk and stay there!

The newest member of the family finally gets a name!
Aarush is what mum and dad have picked for him.
The name means 1. a new beginning, 2. first rays of the sun.
He's finally home now and getting to know his family. Chacha-Chachi can't wait to see him. In fact, chachi had a dream about him...that he was crying and she picked him up to soothe him.
Hopefully he's dreaming about chachi too ;-)

The one in which GG becomes an aunt!
...Of a one day old bonnie baby boy :)
MnM's labor of love arrived last night (March 12, 2009, just like his mommy wanted) at 8.22pm PST and he was welcomed by his eagerly awaiting parents, grandparents and maushi (maternal aunt) :)
Yes, the new generation has officially arrived. And how!!? He made all of us wait and wait and wait and finally, Mommy and Daddy decided they had to put their feet down and bring this shy boy out !!
It's a great feeling! All the pictures flying around made me even weep a little. Such is the joy of ushering in a new generation, new dreams, new aspirations and a new life. I can only imagine how the parents feel.
As I bowed my head to the one watching over us this morning, all I could say was Thanks!!
Congratulations to the proud parents (MnM), both sets of grandparents and us, the aunts and uncles of the baby :)
We have a vital role to play you know! (that of spoiling and undoing everything the parents teach the little brat!! HA!!)
Back to work!
Edited to ADD: Back to work? Who am I kidding? I can't focus on anything...I feel like bouncing off the walls !

When will the finger pointing stop?
I've been reading articles covering the deadly militant attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore. At first it was only a report stating facts. 7 players were wounded and 7 other people killed.
I went to the TOI website and read that our neighbors now believe we're behind the attack (by we I mean India). One minister apparently claimed this is our response to the Mumbai Attacks from November. And that we wanted to prove that they are a militant state. Right!
Kill another neighbor to prove one is at fault.
But wait, did those ministers just confess that Nov 26, 2008 was their doing? That they are the perpetrators? We captured one of those beasts alive...isn't that proof enough?
When will the finger pointing stop? When both sides admit there's a problem, why does it take so long to get the problem resolved? So we condemn their loss and they condemn ours. Does it really mean anything?
It does sting when its your own innocent people that have to bear the brunt of your wrong doing and fanatical ignorance. So stop pointing fingers and do something about it damnit!
PS: At times I don't trust everything I read on TOI - so to be fair I went to Reuters and BBC. Both had similar accounts about the finger pointing...just for the record!
